Business Casual?

Some people dread entering their closets for fear they may never emerge dressed. Others gleefully jump into mini skirts and flip-flops only to learn the company policy the hard way.
Strict corporate dress codes aside, there are no rules describing what business casual means. Naturally this opens the door for misinterpretation and error. The good news is that understanding some fundamental concepts can help.
In many industries, business casual is either frowned upon or prohibited, while in others there’s not a suit in sight. Know your industry, but always remember that casual doesn’t mean sloppy.
If there is an unspoken policy, follow it. Pay close attention to the attire of management and follow their lead.
Clothes affect performance. You’ll feel and act more confident and poised when you are groomed and wearing a polished outfit. Ripped jeans won’t make you feel your best because you won’t look your best.
Geographic regions have different rules. What’s acceptable in Los Angeles at a technology company might be taboo at an investment firm in Boston. Generally speaking the West Coast is more casual than the East Coast, but always consider your industry. The South has retained much of its formality yet cities such as Miami have loosened up over the years. To those of you who travel, investigate the dress code for that city and pack a business formal outfit just in case.
The following are some basic tips for what NOT to wear if you are attempting Business Casual:
Business Casual NO’s:
1. Open-toe shoes & flip flops – Flip flops are never acceptable at work. I know it’s hard during the summer not to break out those beautiful Christian Louboutin's.

2. Blue jeans –Some companies have a specific Blue Jean Friday policy. But blue jeans are casual, period. Not Business Casual, even if they cost you $300.

3. Sneakers – Absolutely NOT unless you are Woopie Goldberg or you are the undisputed boss.
4. Miniskirts – Never!
5.Shorts – No. There are some lovely shorts-suit combos out there but they aren’t meant for the office, much less everyone.
6.Hats or Baseball caps – Never.
7. Sports attire – Someone seems to have snuck a memo past the fashion police stating that sports attire is acceptable. Sweats and team jerseys are not Business Casual – ever.
8.T-Shirts with Messages – T-shirts in general are a no, especially anything with a message. “That’s Hot?” Not.
9. Casual handbags - If it’s the bag you took to the beach last Sunday, it’s not Business Casual.
10. Simple Hair - if you are not in the Entertainment Industry, Fashion industry, Resturaunt Industry, Artist or Hair Stylist; KEEP IT SIMPLE!
The secret to dressing business casual is to look professional and clean cut. Ask yourself as you are picking out your outfit, “What impression am I hoping to achieve with this look” and “What do I stand to lose with the wrong impression?” Take a few seconds to answer these questions and you’ll be dressed for success in no time.

10 Tips for Public speaking

"Feeling some nervousness before giving a speech is natural and even beneficial, but too much nervousness can be detrimental. Here are some proven tips on how to control your butterflies and give better presentations:" www.Toastmasters.org

1.) Know your material. Pick a topic you are interested in. Know more about it than you include in your speech. Use humor, personal stories and conversational language – that way you won’t easily forget what to say.

2.) Practice. Practice. Practice! Rehearse out loud with all equipment you plan on using.
Revise as necessary. Work to control filler words; Practice, pause and breathe. Practice with a timer and allow time for the unexpected.

3.) Know the audience. Greet some of the audience members as they arrive. It’s easier to speak to a group of friends than to strangers.

4.)Know the room. Arrive early, walk around the speaking area and practice using the microphone and any visual aids.

5.) Relax. Begin by addressing the audience. It buys you time and calms your nerves. Pause, smile and count to three before saying anything. ("One one-thousand, two one-thousand, three one-thousand. Pause. Begin.) Transform nervous energy into enthusiasm.

6.) Visualize yourself giving your speech. Imagine yourself speaking, your voice loud, clear and confident. Visualize the audience clapping – it will boost your confidence.

7.) Realize that people want you to succeed. Audiences want you to be interesting, stimulating, informative and entertaining. They’re rooting for you.

8.) Don’t apologize for any nervousness or problem – the audience probably never noticed it.

9.) Concentrate on the message – not the medium. Focus your attention away from your own anxieties and concentrate on your message and your audience.

10.) Gain experience. Mainly, your speech should represent you — as an authority and as a person. Experience builds confidence, which is the key to effective speaking. A Toastmasters club can provide the experience you need in a safe and friendly environment.

Visit Toasmasters.org, to learn more about being a better leader or enhance your speaking skills. This is great especially if you are trying to futher your career or an entreprenuer.

Giuseppe Zanotti’s Vs. OTHERS

,br>Giuseppe Zanotti’s designs have been very creative and glamorous with their heels throughout the years. The shapes and sizes of the studs in this black suede sandal are HOT! This "Zip Cuffed Jeweled Sandal" has a 4 1/2 inch heel and has metal studs / ornaments on all 5-cuff straps of the sandal. The metal studded cuff goes past your ankles to create more style and funk to your wardrobe.
If you think, you could wear and afford this Giuseppe Zanotti from Neiman Marcus, then GO FOR IT! However, I found similar shoes at www.Zappos.com and searched for "studded shoes".

Weight Loss Tongue Patch

I normally try to stay focus and write about jewelry, fashion, and events, but this had to be reported to Ritzy’s Fashionista’s. Just when you think you know everything to beautify yourself – here comes a new weight loss method (NOT TREND).

A Dr. in Southern California has created the most interested, but yet bizarre weight loss innovation that has been, produced. It is the “Miracle Tongue Patch," created by Dr. Chungay. The patch appears to be a white net custom size patch that is shaped to fit your tongue. The Dr. surgically applies the patch within an hour, making all foods difficult and painful to eat. The patient can only have a liquid diet under the direct supervision of Dr. Chungay, once the patch has been applied.

According to his website http://www.drchugay.com/weight-loss-tongue-patch-surgery.html, it reports that his patients have lost up to 30 pounds in one month, even though the website is only reporting 10 participants or patients to date. Doesn’t it make since to just go on a liquid diet yourself and exercise? Why pay the high cost of a plastic surgeon for this? What do you think?

Happy New Year - 2010

I just wanted to wish everyone a very happy and safe New Year wherever you are in the world. Many people make New Year's resolutions each year and do not live up to them, as they should. Some involve having a healthier lifestyle, getting organized, living debt free, completing a project or financial growth. I know everyone is going to start his or her New Year off by networking, staying focus, inspired and productive.

2010 looks set to be a very interesting year for Ritzy Couture Vintage Jewelry (RCVJ), with a new jewelry line coming out spring 2010, plus tons of trunk shows and trade shows. In fact, I will be releasing a press release within the next couple of days, announcing the new jewelry line and what it consist of, and what was the inspiration behind this line. However, I will revile that Ritzy Couture Vintage new line is a combination between Cleopatra Era Meets the 70's. So stay tuned and stay Inspired!

Look forward in seeing more "Ask Ritzy" letters as well as more contests for fellow RCVJ followers in 2010. If you have any ideas or suggestions, please do not hesitate to email me at EbonieCaldwell@RitzyVintage.com

New Years Eve Resolutions

New Year’s Eve is just around the corner and like others and myself; I know that you are just now exploring your fashion options. New Year’s Eve is all about sparkle, the shine and of course that New Year’s resolution. Celebrating the New Year is a great excuse to transform your everyday style into a more glamorous, sophisticated look - while giving up those bad habits with the hope of getting new habits and wishes.

Follow these simple rules for a successful and prosperous evening and fantastic New year.

1.) Do Be Patient: Whether you are trying to in that perfect sparkle dress or that bling jewelry to bring out that simple black dress. Whether you are waiting to get in that hot New Years Eve party or simply trying to enforce your resolutions. ("GOOD THING COMES TO THOSE WHO WAIT" and "PATIENCE IS A VIRTUAL") Live by these two phrases and trust me you will have a prosperous New Year.www.RitzyVintage.com. www.RitzyVintage.com

2.)Do Be Respectful: Treat anyone assisting you or serving you, in any capacity with politeness and utmost respect. It is a holiday, and they no doubt would love to be with their friends at the dining table, on the other side of the bar or at the department store shopping for fabulous dress. Instead, they will be running themselves crazy to make a living in this economy. Therefore, it will not hurt you to be polite and respectful.

3.) Do Tip Well: Whether you are at the beauty shop, day spa, nail salon, restaurant or bar, do not forget to tip. The individuals that are serving you are not just doing a job that is trying to make sure you are happy and satisfied with their products, foods, drinks, and OVERALL service. If you are, having a bad day, excellent service means everything. This can help brighten up a patrons / clients day. So Tip Well! Because what you put out will come back to you tenfold. TRUST ME!

4.) Be Positive: Think positive about everything in life starting today. Know that you are going to lose weight; you are that Fashionista Diva, you are very successful, you are very prosperous and you have a successful relationship with everyone. Know that whatever you persistently and consistently put your positive mind to, it is yours, and no one can take that from you. Do not let anything negative, come out of your mouth or be written by you. As far as you are concern, you can do what you want and get what you want. Affirm to yourself everyday your New Year’s Resolution and your other wish. Watch as the days, months, and year go by you will be an entirely new person. As this starts too happy, please let me know. Please feel free to send me pics to post and tell me how you have started your New Years Eve's off or what you have done in the New Year.

HUGE TIP: CARMA! WHAT GOES AROUND, COMES AROUND! SO START YOUR NEW YEARS EVE OUT RIGHT! SO, HAPPY NEW YEARS!

How To Clean Jewelry With Household Products

Hand Sanitizer! Yes, I said it. Hand Sanitizer! I usually get my jewelry cleaned at CD Peacock by my jeweler. However, since its cold outside I decided to become lazy and do-it-myself. I looked around for all the traditional household products that I was told that works, such as Alka-seltzer tablets, Ammonia, Oxi-Clean, liquid detergent etc... What I did have on my bathroom sink was some hand sanitizer, so of course I USED IT. To my surprise, it was fabulous on my jewelry; I got so jewelry cleaning happy. My silly self started cleaning all my jewelry including the costume jewelry, which is plated and metal.

Wow! It worked so good I felt like; my jewelry was worth a million dollars, because it was blinging all over the sink. Now! I have to say I do not suggest you use any hand sanitizer, as some are much stronger than others are. However, I purchased mines from online at www.ItsCleanUSA.com. I am quite sure you can purchase it from Walgreens or your local drug store. I guess what makes them different from other companies, is there sanitizer is bio-based-so it is not going to affect anything, with the exception of clean everything. LOL

My Instructions are very SIMPLE:

1.) Apply Sanitizer on jewelry pieces
two.) Gently place your selected pieces into warm water
3.) Gently move bowl in a circular motion for about 10 seconds
4.) Let jewelry sit for up to 5 minutes
5.) Rinse with warm water
6.) Pat dry with a soft cloth
7.) You are done - YOUR JEWELRY LOOKS NEW AS IF IT'S BEEN LASERED CLEANED

Ida: In Her Own Words - A Great Knowledgeable Read

"After starting a family in 1896, she turned her attention to fairness in the school systems, women’s suffrage, community organizing and job training, political representation, and equal housing. She was also one of the founders of the National Association for Colored Women (NACW) and the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP).

Ida B. Wells became an international figure who fought for equality of African Americans and women throughout her entire lifetime. She died almost 80 years ago in 1931, but her words and passion live on."

“I feel compelled to make her writings available for today’s public and ensure that Ida B. Wells will become more well-known for the incredible contributions she made to this country.”
— Michelle Duster, great-granddaughter of Ida B. Wells

It's been years since I've honestly recommended a book to anyone I know, but this book is so perfect for those who wants to understand the African - American Culture or History overall, which is almost everyone I know. Including you who is reading this blog.

The Author Michelle Duster is a great writer who has the real inside to a non-fiction history book. She really gets and speaks to the audience in her book "Ida: In Her Own Words". I have to say based on the Excerpt of the book at www.MLDwrites.com, this is a great book to purchase and include it in your book club amongst your fellow readers. Also if you would like to purchase some Ida B. Wells Memorabilia, please log on to www.IdaBWellsproducts.com.

"Ask Ritzy" Advice or Opinion

Hey! Everybody, We here at Ritzy Couture Vintage Jewelry has decided to add something new to the blog and that is "Ask Ritzy". If you have a question, concern or need advice about fashion, finances or relationships; Send us an email to EbonieCaldwell@RitzyVintage.com. We will post your email with a reply on our blog. Every reader or blogger who sends us an email is automatically be entered in our monthly contest. On yesterday we actual received our first email for "Ask Ritzy" - here is what our reader told us.

I met a guy two months ago at a bar in Long Island, we communicated often, via text the majority of the time. When we’d text, it would be fun and flirty… but sometimes his text are very short. We finally went oout on a first date about a month ago, it felt like I knew him for a long time. It was great! Since then, however, I’ve only heard from him ONCE and of course it was via the damn text - over the course of that entire month. While I wanted to prove a point and not respond at all, the majority of my friends urged me to text back. So, I waited over a day to respond and ended up writing something cute but also very neutral. And he hasn’t responded! Why would a guy text me, out of the blue, and then not respond?
-I AM CONFUSED-

Dear Ms. Confused,

He was bored! That is the reason he text you for the heck of it. This guy did not have anything to do and unfortunately he is not in to you. My guess would be it was exciting for him to get to know you at the time (considering you did meet him at the bar, while drinking). However he is a guy who enjoys having random hookup every now and then. You said it yourself; it’s been mostly “fun and flirty.” If that’s something you think you can enjoy then keep going. But if you’re looking for the time, attention and companionship, instead of a "ONE NIGHT TEXT STAND", then you need to look elsewhere. Him texting you all the time when he finally do respond is so not personable and disrescpectfu. Because at what point can you two have a conversation via strictly texting to get to know about each other. IMPOSSIBLE!!!!!! Baby girl do not waste your time and keep it moving. SWEEP THE TRASH UNDER THE RUG and NEXT!!!!Match.com
